RIAI Grade III Registered Conservation Practice

Preserving the past. Designing for what's next

Conservation is a core part of what JSA does — not a sideline.

As an RIAI Grade III Registered Conservation Practice, we have extensive experience in the protection, adaptation, and reuse of historic buildings, including projects at Aungier Street, Birr Science Museum, and the Ship Street Offices at Dublin Castle.

The work demands a careful balance: preserving the architectural, historical, and cultural significance of the building while adapting it to meet contemporary functional, regulatory, and performance requirements. That balance is where we add value.

We combine detailed technical knowledge with a sensitive, informed design approach. We work closely with clients, conservation officers, and stakeholders to ensure interventions respect the historic fabric while meeting today's standards. Our role extends from initial assessment and conservation strategy through to design, planning, and delivery — including clear guidance on appropriate interventions, materials, and methodologies.

The objective is to safeguard heritage while letting these buildings evolve — creating sustainable, viable spaces that remain relevant for the next generation.
